Retro Kari (“we,” “our,” or “the App”) helps game collectors share and track retro game store inventory intel.
We are committed to privacy and data minimization. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1) Data We Collect
A. Account and Identity Data
- Sign in with Apple authentication data via Apple and Firebase Auth.
- We collect and store:
- Stable user ID (Firebase UID)
- Apple-provided account details as permitted by your settings (for authentication/identity),
- Your in-app handle/username and related profile fields.
B. Location Data
- If you grant location permission, we collect approximate location (not precise location).
- We use it to:
- show nearby stores on the map,
- support local discovery and proximity-based views,
- improve report relevance.
C. Photos and User-Generated Content
- If you choose to upload content, we collect:
- Photos/videos you provide in reports and photo rounds,
- Report text, notes, store details, links, and tags,
- Review/feedback content you submit.
- User-generated content may be visible to other users according to app features and moderation.
D. App Usage and Analytics Data
- Firebase Analytics records app events used for performance, reliability, and feature optimization.
- Lightweight session activity is recorded to support aggregate product usage metrics.
- Event data is used to understand feature usage and improve the app.
E. Purchase and Entitlement Data
- Scout Pass is sold via Apple In-App Purchase.
- We process required purchase metadata only as needed to grant and validate entitlements.
F. Support and Communications Data
- If you contact support, messages and related context (including basic app/device details) are used only to answer and resolve your request.
2) How We Use Your Data
- To create, authenticate, and maintain your account.
- To save, sync, and display your reports, photos, planning data, and preferences.
- To show map-based content and nearby store info.
- To improve safety, moderation, and anti-abuse controls.
- To process Scout Pass purchases and entitlement updates.
3) Legal Basis / Processing Rationale
We process data to:
- perform the services you request,
- maintain app security, integrity, and abuse prevention,
- operate and improve the service,
- comply with applicable legal requirements where applicable.
4) Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We only share with:
- Apple (Sign in with Apple and App Store billing systems),
- Google Firebase services used by the app (Auth, Firestore, Storage, Analytics, Functions, etc.),
- service providers as necessary for lawful operation.
We may disclose data in response to lawful requests from authorities.
5) Retention and Deletion
- Data is stored in Firebase under account and service access controls.
- If you delete your account, we remove your profile, username claim, saved app data, and daily usage/account linkage records.
- Some user-generated public content may remain visible without your profile identity, depending on moderation and community integrity rules.
- Aggregate analytics/event telemetry is retained according to Firebase retention practices.
6) Your Rights and Choices
- You can browse store maps and much of the app content without signing in.
- Sign in with Apple is required to access account features such as saving stores, posting reports, and planning trips.
- You can revoke location and photo permissions in iOS Settings at any time.
- If signed in, you can delete your account directly from app Settings (where available) to remove account-linked data.
7) International Data Processing
If you use the app outside your country, your data may be processed in other regions where service providers operate, consistent with provider safeguards.
8) Security
We use HTTPS and Firebase security controls, and apply access-restricted data handling practices to reduce unauthorized access and abuse.
9) Children's Privacy
Retro Kari is not directed at children under the minimum legal age in your jurisdiction.
If we become aware that personal data from a child was submitted, we will remove it and terminate access as appropriate.
10) Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material updates will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
